Who is GIGSY?
GIGSY is an independent singer, songwriter and producer from Oxford, U.K., entirely self-produced, unafraid to experiment with genre and change up her sound and style. With a vast array of influences from the likes of Lady Gaga, MARINA, Ashnikko, Twenty One Pilots and Poppy. GIGSY creates music that delves into the human psyche, with social and political commentary - never one to shy away from such topics. Growing up, GIGSY was introduced to artists such as Gary Numan, ABBA, Ultravox, Sisters of Mercy, Madonna and Runrig - an eclectic listening experience which most certainly influenced her music in present day.
For just over 10 years, GIGSY has been creating music in one way or another; whether it be songwriting, producing or all of it, GIGSY's life has always revolved around it. FKA 'MARGO' & 'KHLOË', 'GIGSY', her new alias, was born in 2021 with the single 'She's Evil', the track accumulating over 17K streams in the last 4 years. GIGSY has released 4 projects since 2021, kicking it off with 'MODESTA' (Volume One & Two), taking on a much darker synthpop sound compared to her earlier works under her previous names. In 2023, she released her debut album 'HOMEMADE HEROINE', her sound once again shifting into something more industrial rock leaning with great success. From 2024 to 2025, GIGSY then released a 3 EP project called 'IN THE AETHER', delving into hip-hop, rock and dance, continually expanding her sound and artistry as a musician. And now, in 2026, GIGSY is embarking on a new sonic and visual endeavour...

GIGSY Presents... 'The Chameleon Complex'

On the 28th of January 2026, GIGSY released her sophomore album 'The Chameleon Complex'; rooted in 80s new wave, the album has been a decade in the making. Featuring songs that she has written over the last 10 years, 'The Chameleon Complex' delves into the many different facets of GIGSY's identity and self, the many masks and faces she has adorned throughout her life. GIGSY wanted to create a vibrant, rich and saturated visual, and sonic, world, taking inspiration from the various musical sub-cultures of the 80s. From the glamour of Bowie, the androgyny of Numan, the punk of Blondie and the whimsy of Kate Bush, this album is an evolution of GIGSY's own life and music journey with it's core ethos being identity, neurodivergence and culture.
The record was entirely self-produced, recorded and written by GIGSY, as well as being independently released and marketed. GIGSY has used 80s adjacent visuals to promote the record on social media, creating 'CTV' ('ChameleonTV') -- obviously inspired by 'MTV'. GIGSY wanted to build a world for the listener, the music videos contributing to that, taking inspiration from the very real world and bleeding it into her own fiction. As a lyric from 'Rebel HeART' says: "Life is art, and she's the painter."
Making 'The Chameleon Complex'

'The Chameleon Complex' was an idea that GIGSY had been sitting on for a few years. Under her previous alias, she released an album in 2020 called 'I Am Mowgli', which looking back upon was a prototype of sorts. It was bright, colourful and synthpop rooted, commentating on the culture of that time as well as delving into identity. It was at the beginning of 2025 when GIGSY began to create the concept and moodboard for 'The Chameleon Complex'. She would describe the process, especially for the album cover, as 'scrapbook-y' in nature. GIGSY knew she wanted to have an 80s leaning aesthetic for the record, she just wasn't entirely sure on the execution... Until she rewatched David Bowie's 'Life on Mars' music video.
GIGSY went through multiple cover concepts/designs before the final one came to be. The final cover has bit from each previous design; the handwritten title, the colours, the outfit, the border and digital art element. GIGSY designed and created the album cover herself, like she does with every part of her projects. The album cover is a combination of photo bashing, editing and digital art, creating a vibrant, colourful end product which she feels reflects the variety of the music. She took inspiration from David Bowie's 'Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)', Lady Gaga's 'ARTPOP', Andy Warhol and Pater Sato.
GIGSY wanted people to wonder if it was a painting or photo, blending photograhs with art to reflect the concept of 'being a chameleon'.

The Music
The album is an accumulation of the last decade of GIGSY's musical journey, with songs like 'The Life of a Porcupine' originally being written when she was 15, 'Double-Sided' at 18, 'Susie & The Regulars' at 21, remade and released on this album at age 27. This record is one that GIGSY has always wanted to make, and she finally had the tools, skills and confidence to do so.

TRACK 1: GEN TV (TELL THE VISIONS)
Inspired by the post-punk sound, 'Gen TV' features rhythmic, distorted electric guitars, a bouncy synth bass and eerie, harmonic vocals. Lyrically, the song is about being obsessed with fictional media, about how we often look for characters in the TV to identify with - we look for reflection, the TV is a mirror.
TRACK 2: SUCK A LEMON!
Continuing on the darker sound of 'Gen TV', 'Suck A Lemon!' leans more into synth rock territory, full of gothic guitars, Numan-esque synths and moody vocals. The song is a politer, more whimsical, way to tell someone who was toxic to 'do one'. It's about a past relationship GIGSY had and was originally written in 2019.
TRACK 3: The Balloon of Youth
The album takes a sonical turn here, becoming lighter and more pop-orientated. 'The Balloon of Youth' is a synthpop track, leaning into the more theatrical realm with operatic backing vocals inspired by the likes of Kate Bush and Queen. It's more playful and modern baroque pop adjacent, reminiscent of Marina (And The Diamonds)'s earlier work. The song is about how it feels to age as a woman in the modern day.
TRACK 4: PANDORA'S WORLD
Taking inspiration from electroclash pop, 'Pandora's World' is bombastic right off the bat. Full of 80s power pop drum fills, stuttering synths and raw, dramatic vocals, the song is about how it feels to have an autistic meltdown. It's chaotic, reflecting the emotional state GIGSY experiences during a meltdown.

TRACK 5: SO... GLAMOROUS
We once again take a turn in the album, moving into the funkier track of 'So... Glamorous'. The track is evidently inspired by the likes of Bowie and Gaga's early work. It's glittery, funky and deliberately obnoxious. It teeters between the 70s and the 80s, blending the sounds to create something fun and fierce. Lyrically, the song is about what GIGSY had thought nights out on the town would be like when she was younger from watching TV, films and music videos growing up.
TRACK 6: PURGATORY!
Brash, bold, poptastic... 'Purgatory!' is drenched in 80s pop sounds from the power pop drums, the various glistening synths, polished vocals and harmony filled choruses. Taking inspiration from the likes of 'Material Girl' by Madonna and 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' by Cyndi Lauper, the track is about GIGSY's desire to make it as a musician, yet being unfit for the world that surrounds it - AKA capitalism and commercialism.
TRACK 7: REBEL HEART
Diving back into a darker sound, 'Rebel HeART' is another synth rock leaning track that has brash vocals, big synths and a splash of punk attitude. It's a female empowerment song, written about the women and queer artists GIGSY looks up to and how they know how to play the game that is the music industry. They are rebels, unstoppable and confident, and GIGSY channels that too in this track.
TRACK 8: THE LIFE OF A PORCUPINE
Arguably one of the more 80s sounding tracks on the album, 'The Life of a Porcupine' toes the line of Depeche Mode and Kate Bush, a danceable track with somber undertones with gothic guitars, brassy synths and haunting vocals. It sums up the late-diagnosed autistic experience, always feeling like an outsider, enjoying solitude but fearing loneliness. It's one of the first songs GIGSY ever wrote at age 15, and as the lyrics say, 'never found a home', that was how the song was for some time until this album. Life imitates art afterall.

TRACK 9: DOUBLE-SIDED
Off the bat, 'Double-Sided' sets it's haunting tone with droning synths, arpeggiators, machinery sounds and 808 drums. It's a somber track, dark and reminiscent of Depeche Mode, New Order and Numan. It's new wave, it's raw and honest. It speaks about GIGSY's experiences with anxiety, specifically social anxiety, and depression. The track builds until the electronica breakdown at the end where GIGSY talk-sings about her 'double-sidedness' and her chameleon complex.
TRACK 10: (I STILL) ADORE YOU
'(I Still) Adore You)' is dreamy synthpop galore; reverberated plucks, a theremin-esque synth, buzzy saw bass... It all sounds a bit sci-fi. GIGSY was inspired by 'Only You' by Yazoo, the track being one of her favourite songs, and the composer Natalie Holt and her work on the 'Loki' series. She wanted it to sound more like a sountrack piece, like it belonged in an 80s cult classic. It's a love song, and the music reflects that.
TRACK 11: SUSIE & THE REGULARS
We return to the present with 'Susie & The Regulars', the track featuring more modern elements like the DnB style drums. Full of distortion and energy, the song is brash, loud and weird. It blends synth pop and electroclash with rock elements, lyrically encapsulating GIGSY's overall experience in the world - lost and unsure of what comes next. She questions 'where do I go?' as if the listener can answer it for her. But that, at the crux of it, is the complex: 'will I always be this way?'
