The Chameleon Complex: GIGSY's Sophomore Album

IMG_5999.JPG

On the 28th of January 2026, GIGSY released her sophomore album 'The Chameleon Complex'; rooted in 80s new wave, the album has been a decade in the making. Featuring songs that she has written over the last 10 years, 'The Chameleon Complex' delves into the many different facets of GIGSY's identity and self, the many masks and faces she has adorned throughout her life. GIGSY wanted to create a vibrant, rich and saturated visual, and sonic, world, taking inspiration from the various musical sub-cultures of the 80s. From the glamour of Bowie, the androgyny of Numan, the punk of Blondie and the whimsy of Kate Bush, this album is an evolution of GIGSY's own life and music journey with it's core ethos being identity, neurodivergence and culture.

The record was entirely self-produced, recorded and written by GIGSY, as well as being independently released and marketed. GIGSY has used 80s adjacent visuals to promote the record on social media, creating 'CTV' ('ChameleonTV') -- obviously inspired by 'MTV'. GIGSY wanted to build a world for the listener, the music videos contributing to that, taking inspiration from the very real world and bleeding it into her own fiction. As a lyric from 'Rebel HeART' says: "Life is art, and she's the painter."
